Last night, I saw a friend disrobe in public. It was at the Oak Street Brewery in New Orleans. The place hosted an open mic night for comedians. My friend is a documentary filmmaker and a professor. He decided recently to try his hand at stand-up comedy. He’d done some improv, and this seemed the next logical step. He was taking a chance.
Richard. I enjoyed reading your story a lot. I wish I had known about the event. as I have wanted to catch our mutual friend's act. It also would have given me a chance to catch up with two (hopefully fully dressed) good friends. I like your Rosh Hashana joke. I think the naked metaphor is perfect when it comes to getting up on that stage. "There is no ambiguity in silence" is a wonderful aphorism.

Then thought of my niece who did stand-up for years, in NYC (tough-tough) and Minneapolis (where, being Norwegians, they laugh out of politeness if nothing else), and now she's a crackerjack therapist with a large clientele. It shows you what comedy can lead to.
