I went to an exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago a few days ago titled, “Frida Kahlo’s Month in Paris: A Friendship with Mary Reynolds.” Mary Reynolds was an American fine arts bookbinder who lived in Paris in the 1930s who had many friends in the Surrealist movement.
Beautiful literary portrait of an extraordinary woman Just today I wrote a thank you note on stationary bought at the Nelson Adkins museum after visiting for a Kahlo/Rivera exhibit. For some reason she captured my soul!
"Absorb a painting like a plant absorbs water." Perfect description of why art moves us. I read Lacuna, a novel by Barbara Kingsolver about Kahlo, Rivera and Trotsky. I'd love to know how much of it is true, but it seems she captured Frida"s essence.
Thank you Rich 💜

She has captured many souls.

I haven't read that book--yet.
