Funny how a simple task become portals. As I read your memory, I saw my own mother doing the same thing. (I had to add her softly cursing the neighbor's constant bad timing with their burn pile.)

Richard, Loved your article. Brought back many wonderful memories of my own mother hanging clothes on the clothesline in our back yard right up to the end of her life. I used to help her from time to time. One of my fondest memories of her and our family life. Thanks so much for bringing it back to the top of my memory bank.
